Aluksne district open orienteering championship

SCHEDULE – INVITATION

LOCATION AND TIMING

The championship kicks-off on May 10th, 2016. The event centre – 4,5 km marking on A2 highway (Riga – Veclaicene), road to Korneti. Starts at 4 – 7pm EEST.

PARTICIPANTS

The championship welcomes participants from the Aluksne district, as well as from other regions and cities of Latvia and abroad.
The participants compete in the following championship groups:

MW 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, MW A (open group), MW B (born in 1998 and after), MW H (born in 2001 and after), MW 35, 45, 55, 65.

MAP AND TERRAIN

The championship will take place in a brand-new terrain on the hillock of the Haanja – Aluksne highland, in the surroundings of the Druski mound, more than 200 m above the sea level. ‘The Cup of Maliena 2016’ will also be organized in a similar terrain. The map has been drawn in the autumn of 2015 and winter of 2016. The author is Vilnis Velkeris. The map for all groups is M 1:10 000, H 5m. The territory includes a forest of coniferous trees and leaf trees of various age, also glades and open spaces of various age. Medium and large relief forms with occasional slopes. Running options: from medium to good. Regular road network. The checkpoints are numbered in order in which they must be visited, legends only with maps. Maps are placed in plastic bags.

The approximate paremeters of the distances: MW10 2km, MW12 3 km, MW14 4 km, M16 6 km, M18 8km, MA 8,5 km, MB 6km, MH 4km, M35 8km M45 6km, M55 5km, M65 4km, W18 5,5km, W16 4,5km, WA 6km, WB 4km, WH 3km, W35 5,5km, W45 4,5km, W55 4km, W65 3km,

THE PROCESS

The participants start their distance in a time frame 4 – 7pm EEST. Punching system: SPORT IDENT. Control time to run the distance: 2 hours. Start interval between the participants of the same group: no less than 2 minutes.

PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY

The final places are determined based on the participant’s result in the distance. The winners (1st-3rd place) of all groups are awarded with the medals of the Aluksne district championship. The award ceremony takes place at the event centre from 7.30pm EEST and in the next round of the HORIZONTS championship on May 17th.

The final results are counted in the overall ranking of HORIZONTS.
